One of my colleagues at work handed me this one, one very badly dropped some sort of boat. The rudders had taken the full force of the impact and had punched through the hull. There was also a split around the bottom of the transom and the whatever they are calleds which hold the bottoms of the propellor tubes where loose in the hull. She asked if i could fix it for her old and infirm father to use in the back yard pool. This man sometimes comes to the club on sundays and is an avid aeromodeller who can no longer participate due to health reasons. How could i say no? I fixed the damage and charged the 6V 3.6 AHr lead acid battery which to my amazement seams to work fine. She is ready for sea trials after her refit, I am going to go find a local pond with good access this afternoon.

Sea trials have been completed and i am pleased to anounce the old girl has passed with flying colours. Not one drop of water entered the hull over the five or more minutes that she was paddling around in Kent Street Wier. That was all the battery lasted for though so i guess it is probably on its last legs. i will run it a few more times before i give it back, i used to model boat when i was in my early twenties and scratch built a few speedies and one tug which a used to tow myself (on a paddle boat) around the lake.
